How to get to the venue

From Gent Sint-Pieters Station

The venue is located 1.8 km (1.1 miles) from Ghent Sint-Pieters Station. You can go to the venue by foot: there is a nice route which goes through Citadel Park (see map above)

One can also use public transportation. Arriving at Gent Sint-Pieters Station, go to platform 2. There, you can take tram 1 in the direction of “Wondelgem industrieweg” or “Evergem”. Get off at the stop called “Verlorenkost”. Turn the corner and take the rightmost street (Sint-Kwintensberg). The building is located at the top of the hill. How to get to Belgium

By Air

The main airport in Belgium is Brussels-National Airport, located in Zaventem, about 60 km from Ghent. From there, you easily reach Ghent by train.

For budget airlines see the website of Charleroi Airport. This airport, also called Brussels South Airport, is a smaller airport located about 60km from Brussels.

By train

Belgium has an extensive railway system. The majority of the international lines pass through Brussels from which you have good connections to Ghent. Thalys is the high-speed train that takes you to Paris, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, etc. Eurostar is the high-speed train that goes between Brussels and London. How to get to Ghent by train: “Gent Sint-Pieters”

Arriving at Brussels Airport

The airport City Express leaves from within the airport building (floor -2) and takes you to one of the main stations in Brussels. There you can switch to one of the many IC trains to or via “Gent Sint-Pieters” (e.g. directions Brugge, Blankenberge, Knokke, Oostende).

Arriving at Charleroi Airport

On arrival at the airport take the direct bus (bus A) which will bring you to the train station Charleroi-Sud in about 20 minutes. From there, take a train to Brussels Midi/Zuid, where you can switch to one of the many IC trains to or via Gent Sint-Pieters.

The cheapest, most efficient way to get from Charleroi Airport to Ghent is by buying a “billet bulk” from one of the machines at the airport. The price of the ticket should include the bus transfer and also the trains from Charleroi-Sud to Gent Sint-Pieters.

Arriving by train in Brussels

Take one of the many IC trains to or via “Gent Sint-Pieters” (e.g. directions Brugge, Blankenberge, Knokke, Oostende).

Accommodation

An easy and well-tested option is the Ibis Opera hotel, which is very close to the conference venue, or the one in the city center. However, Ghent has a vast number of hotels, hostels and affordable bed & breakfasts. For a wide range of options see Booking.com and Bedandbreakfast.eu. Food & Coffee

 

 

On this map, you can find an overview of some suggestions for restaurants in the vicinity of the venue and/or the museum. You can also ask one of the local organizers for specific suggestions. Ghent boasts a great variety of restaurants, including a wide choice of vegetarian and vegan ones. For the coffee enthusiasts, there are also a number of places nearby which serve excellent specialty coffee.
